Other Initial Tests:

Semen Analysis

Carrier Testing for the Spouse

Other Tests
Infertility is defined as a couple having unprotected sex for 1
year and not achieving a pregnancy.

If you and your spouse have been having sex for 1 year or more and have not
achieved a pregnancy, it is time to start seeking some answers.

The first place to begin, and the one most commonly covered by insurance is a
Semen Analysis.  If the results of the semen analysis reveal sperm in the ejaculate,
the sperm will need to be evaluated.  If the results come back and there is NO
sperm in the ejaculate, most medical professionals will infer that a man has
CBAVD.

Some common tests to have next for the man are FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin and
Testosterone.  Most of these tests ARE covered by insurance as well.  If those
results come back all within normal ranges, most doctors will explain there is all
reason to believe that the man with CF and CBAVD is producing normal sperm
and that the results of a surgical or in-office sperm retrieval will yield exceptional
results.
