| HR 1418 This is legislation sponsored by Rep. Marty Meehan (D-MA) to require health plans available to federal employees, military personnel and their families to cover infertility treatments. Plans participating in the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) are already required to cover prescription contraceptives, a precedent important to other reproductive services, like infertility coverage. RESOLVE encourages those who receive their benefits via FEHBP or TriCare, the military health plans, to contact their members of Congress to urge them to co-sponsor HR 1418. You should also contact any member of your state who serves on the committees to which the legislation has been referred, the House Armed Services Committee and the House Government Reform Committee. RESOLVE encourages its members - and their friends and families - to write Rep. Meehan to thank him for his efforts on behalf of those touched by infertility! | HR 735 This bill has been introduced by Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY). HR 735 would require insurance coverage of infertility treatments (including up to 4 IVF attempts) by all group health plans that also cover obstetrical benefits. Importantly, Weiner's legislation would amend ERISA to require coverage in self-insured health plans. ERISA currently exempts self-insured plans from benefits mandates enacted at the state level. Weiner has been one of RESOLVE's champions in Congress for the last 5 years and held a July 1 press event in New York City to highlight the lack of insurance coverage for infertility. Representing RESOLVE at the event were five patients, including chapter leaders from RESOLVE of New York and RESOLVE of Long Island. RESOLVE encourages its members - and their friends and families- to write Rep. Weiner to thank him for his efforts on behalf of those touched by infertility. | HR 2758 Medicare Infertility Coverage Act of 2005, (HR 2758), introduced by Rep. Robert Andrews, would require Medicare to provide infertility treatment to disabled Medicare beneficiaries. |
